Goa’s coastline stretches for about 100 km. If you are looking for beaches with white sands, an unforgettable night party, secluded groves to enjoy the sun or to find some best bargains in the hippie markets, Goa has it all.
It is a crescent shaped beach with white sands, colorful shacks and serene palm groves. It is one of the picturesque beaches in Goa. It is situated in Canacona, about 40 minutes from Madgaon. One can view the entire beach from either end. There are rocks jutting out into the sea from either side.
This beach is a serene beach mainly inhabited by local fishermen and foreign tourists. Amateur swimmers can enjoy the shallow end of the beach where the currents are not so fast. The Arabian Sea is a shade of sapphire and provides tides that are ideal for playful bodyboarding.

Bask in the sun and take a stroll
The white sandy stretch of about 1.5 km is good enough for one to take a stroll and feel relaxed. Also you can take a dip in the sea and enjoy the serenity.

Visit Monkey Island
Along the north end of the beach is an island nicknamed as Monkey Island due to the monkeys that dwell there. It may require little of rock hopping, however there are also boats that make regular trips to the island.
How to get there?
You can easily take a train to Madgaon or fly to Goa Dabolin Airport at Vasco da Gama. There are plenty of government approved fixed price taxis available from these locations. Canacona is an alternate train station which is about 2.5km from Palolem beach.
There are also State Transport Buses from Madgaon Bus Stand to Canacona or Palolem. If the bus is stationed at Canacona bus station, take a rickshaw to Palolem Beach, which is at a distance of 3 km. The journey from Madgaon to Canacona takes about 90 minutes and is quite a scenic one.
Where to stay?
Basic accommodation costs around 200-500 rupees. There will be variation in the tariff rates in peak season like New Year’s Eve and Christmas. A decent room with television might cost you around Rs.1000. There are also plenty of shacks near the beach, which are usually reserved on the spot.
